How Does it Work?
Eventphotographs.com seeks out talented photographers from around the United States and Canada. The first step to getting started is to complete the online registration form.

On this form we collect basic information such as name, address, shipping, and e-mail information. The next step in the process is to open the line of communications. Send an e-mail and tell us a little more about yourself. We would like to know where you live, the geographic area where you will be shooting, and do you have any activities you like to shoot, are you a drag racing fan or would you rather shoot horse jumping. We would also like to make arrangements to see some of your work, you may e-mail us some samples or we will be happy to visit a web site where you have images posted.

Once you are registered, look for events in your area that interest you or that you think you can make a bucket of money shooting. You are the best source for events in your area, however we are constantly searching for events and will forward information on events in your area. What you shoot, how much you shoot, and how you shoot, is up to you. No art directors, editors, or clients hanging over you telling you what to do.

Once you decide on an event or series of events you want to shoot contact eventphotographs.com and tell us how much film of what speed you would like. We use professional grade negative films, and we supply the film to you. This allows us to standardize film making the printing, and scanning portion of our operation easier. We send you the film requested to complete the shoot. A running balance of the quantity of film shipped to you is kept. By registering you agree keep this film separate from other supplies and return any unused film upon request. We understand that it is practical not to return all of the film after a shoot if you have other events coming up.

Return the exposed film to us as quickly as possible, we encourage FedEx delivery for next business day. Work on your next event while you wait for your check

  What Should I Shoot?

What constitutes an event is really anybody's guess. Events also vary greatly around the country. We target events where the primary customers for the photographs are the participants, their families and friends.
Events can be virtually anything, for example racing or showing, bikes, cars, boats, dogsleds, skis, horses, cattle you get the idea, anything where people might want to buy pictures of themselves or their friends. You are the best source for events in your area.
Some events sell better than others if you have questions regarding a certain type of event contact us we will share any information we have on the subject. Another good tip if you question the potential success of a particular event. Expend the appropriate effort, if the event may not sell well don't spend eight hours and ten rolls of film shooting it, work for an hour or two and call it a day. Remember nobody is telling you what or how much to shoot.

Who Does the Sales and Marketing?
During the event it's important for you to try to get as many people to the web site as possible. We provide a supply of full color business cards for you to hand out. Get them into people's hands and encourage them to visit he web site to see the proofs. Its not necessary to be a brilliant salesperson but it is important that you put forth a strong effort letting people know the pictures exist on the day of the event. There is a definite correlation between the effort expended and the number of prints sold.

If you provide us with organizer information prior to the event we will try to get information into participant registration packets. If we are successful this provides strong support to your card distribution.
We follow up with as much post event marketing as possible, but we count on you for information regarding the event organizers and participants. We will take this information and try to contact participants, get web site links, whatever we can do to increase sales. When people visit and buy we all make more money.

What if Two People Want to Shoot the Same Event?
Often events are large enough for two photographers to cover. For example it is difficult for one photographer to cover a 5K running event, good runners can finish a 5K in about 13 minutes it's just not possible to shoot the start and finish as well as get good action shots from the course. This being said, we operate on a first come first serve basis, when you schedule an event, the event is yours. If another photographer expresses interest and you would like another shooter for the event we will put you in touch with the other photographer. Additionally we ask that if you can't make the event you schedule that you directly contact other registered photographers in your area to see if they have interest.

What Does Eventphotographs do for Me?
The most important thing Eventphotographs.com does for you is to relive you of the hassles of trying to get together with potential buyers, showing proofs, order taking, print production, and shipping. Eventphotographs enlarges the potential market for your images. Participants will often travel from out of your geographic region for an event; it's just not possible to get together with these people to show them proofs. Even if you can get people to look at proofs, producing the order takes up your time and ties up your cash flow. We take care of the entire back end process so you can do what you do well, shoot.
Additionally we will be working to improve recognition of the Eventphotographs.com name, increasing pre-event promotion, and running incentive contests for photographers.

Can I Shoot Digital?
Yes, you may shoot jobs digitally. We are currently producing very high quality prints on real photographic paper from digital files. We are still resolving a few procedural issues and our FTP site will be coming in the near future, but we are posting jobs shot entirely digital. We require the largest files your professional quality digital camera can produce (5 mega pixels or larger) saved in the raw format. Our customers expect the highest quality prints we can produce in sizes up to 20x30 inches, so we need the file size. The images should be transferred to CD’s and mailed to us. We understand this may require several CD’s considering the large file sizes so we will provide the CD’s for you. We are looking forward to being able to assist you with the expanded opportunities this technology creates. As you prepare to shoot events digitally consider negotiating contracts that allow you to "piggyback” your current assignment by sending a copy of the files to eventphotographs.com and increase your print sales through e-commerce distribution and fulfillment of your images.
